Overview:
The module has a total duration of 30 minutes, with approximately 20 minutes dedicated to the roadmap and 10 minutes allocated for quizzes. It focusses on climate change adaptation governance and introduces learners to the key concepts and strategies for adapting to the impacts of climate change. It distinguishes between mitigation and adaptation, which involves anticipating and minimizing the adverse effects of climate change. Adaptation measures categories are explored and defined. The module highlights various types of adaptation, from reactive to transformative, and emphasizes the importance of multi-level governance, involving actors from the global to local level. Learners will understand the complexities of adaptation governance, the roles of different stakeholders, and the challenges that hinder effective adaptation. By fostering cooperation across all governance levels and sectors, the module demonstrates how climate change adaptation can be successfully integrated into policy and practice.

Enora Bruley
Enora Bruley graduated in Ecology and Environmental Political Science and holds a PhD in Environment from Grenoble-Alps University, France. Her research is mainly focused on adapting social-ecological systems (SES) to global changes, especially through studying nature-based solutions and analyzing social-economic levers and pathways for SES adaptation and transformation. Her research methods are place-based and transdisciplinary, based on the co-production of knowledge with local stakeholders. She is currently a post-doc at the University of Geneva on the AGORA project as part of EU Mission Adaptation call. She is working on the barriers and enablers for scaling adaptation co-production processes, including required policy uptake.
Anna Scolobig
Anna Scolobig is a social scientist working on environmental change. After receiving her PhD on social vulnerability and resilience to extreme weather events at the University of Udine, Italy, she conducted research for institutions in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Currently, she is a senior researcher at the University of Geneva and she is involved in the AGORA project. In her work, she investigates the social, cultural, political and institutional factors that influence risk-related attitudes, behaviors, and governance processes. She has carried out research on how people live with risk, what risk reduction policies/measures they adopt and why, and what actions they are willing to take to reduce risk. Her research also supports climate adaptation strategies, policy and decision-making through processes that integrate technical options and stakeholder perspectives, for example, to co-design risk management plans or people-centered warning systems.
